Zagros Cultural Ecology
The Organization for Indigenous Knowledge and Oral Traditions is a non-governmental organization founded in 2004 in Kermanshah (Iran). Despite its extremely limited sources this organization has been able to publish a number of books and CD regarding traditional cultures of Mesopotamia and Zagros’ highlands. The first congress of a series of congresses was held on Razi University one year before official foundation of the organization in 2003. It was the first time the importance of oral cultural heritage of the region was emphasized by the guest speaker of the congress, Prof. Philip Kreyenbroek of the University of Göttingen….

Fariborz M. Reza Hamzeh’ee

Fariborz M. Reza Hamzeh’ee
Fariborz M. Reza Hamzeh’ee was born in Harsin, a small Kurdish town in Western Iran. He finished his primary schooling in Kermanshah and received his high school diploma in Tehran. He started his university studies in Poona (India), where he completed a BA and MA at the Poona University (Savitribai Phule Pune University) and received his PhD degree from the same university in 1986. From India he went to Germany where a Dr. Phil. title was given to him by the University of Augsburg in 1989. 1989 to 1990 he attended a Post Doctorate course at the University of Kassel. His long-term research for “Habilitation” or German professorship was accepted by various German Universities (Osnabrück University, Free University of Berlin, University of Leipzip and University of Weingarten) in 1998 “Venia Legendi” in Kultursoziologie” was given to him by the University of Osnabrück on 12 January 1999.
